ttown 009 Becky Kern has been teaching dancing for more than 50 years. She has danced with Rosalie Bolen, Mr. Bookman, Selma Kissel, Marion Green & Lola Bauman. Becky also trained for years at Dance Caravan and workshops all over the country. Becky retired and turned the studio over to Sue in 1995. Becky still teaches Senior Steppers, Ballroom, Line Dance And Adult Tap.
 Scan6_0006002 Sue Kern started dancing at Becky Kern’s Dance Studio at the age of four, under the instruction of Becky.  She continued her love of dance and education by training for more than 10 years at Michael Simms’ Academy, Steps Unlimited, and Michael Newton’s School of Dance. Sue performed with the Civic Ballet for several years. She is the Director of the Competition Dance Team with a focus on Tap.  Sue also instructs the Ballroom and Adult Tap Classes.  She is now celebrating her 40th year teaching and 18th year as the Director of BKDS.  Sue Teaches Advanced and Adult Tap, Technique, Jazz, Musical Theater, Competition Teams And Ballroom.
jessheadshot Jessica Kern has been dancing since the age of 2 and has been an instructor for 15 years.  She was a member of the Energy Source Dance Company based out of Nashville, Tenneessee and trained under her mother and grandmother at the studio. She has attended countless conventions and workshops over the years.  Jessica was a member of her high school dance team. She is the recipient of Miss Teen Dance USA, Miss Senior Dance USA, and Miss Masquerade along with numerous choreography awards.   She currently is the Head Coach of the Marching Pom Squad and the Contemporary and Jazz Instuctor of our Competitive Dance Team. Jess teaches Contemporary, Modern, Jazz, Musical Theater, Pom Pon, Lyrical, Competition Teams And Technique.

R. Vance Baldwin is our new advanced and intermediate Ballet teacher.  His attention to detail is remarkable. Vance is a big part of the St. Louis area dance scene including MADCO. R. Vance Baldwin, native of St. Joseph, Missouri, holds a Bachelor of Science in Education-Vocal Emphasis-from Missouri Western State University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from University of Missouri-Kansas City. He has danced and/or choreographed for Modern American Dance Company (current), 940 Dance Company, Reach….a movement collective inc., Robidoux Resident Theater, Shawnee Mission: The Theater in the Park, Eubank Productions, Creative Arts Production and Thin Air Theatrics.  He has been a master teacher for The Dance Arts Center, Lawrence Arts Center.
